Guilty Reader Book Tag
I recently came across this book tag in a blog of Adventures of a Bookish Girl. The original video is private so I'm not giving a link to that. I love doing book tags anyway plus it gives you guys a chance to know me better. If you guys like this book tag please feel free to do it yourself. So let's start and see how much guilty I am.
HAVE YOU EVER REGIFTED A BOOK YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
No, I don't regift books I have been given. Number one point is because I don't gift books that often to people. One time I bought a book to gift a friend of mine but I ended up keeping it for myself because I wanted to read the book. In my defense, she is not a serious reader. The second reason I don't believe in regifting especially books because whenever someone gifts me a book means they have spent time thinking about which book I'm going to like. I feel there is so much emotion in it that I look forward to reading the book and cherish the love they have given me in the form of the book.
HAVE YOU EVER SAID YOU’VE READ A BOOK WHEN YOU HAVEN'T ?
I can proudly say that I have not. I actually get annoyed when someone does it. I have seen people only going through the summary of a book and saying that they have read the whole book. I seriously don't like it. There is nothing more to say about it, just a big fat NO.
HAVE YOU EVER BORROWED A BOOK AND NOT RETURNED IT?
Now, this one I have done but only thrice. One time I remember I borrowed The Kite Runner from a friend of my sister's because the book was all over the internet and all the reviews were so good. I just fell in love with the book there was no way I could bring myself to part with it, not just after reading it; so I told my sister to ask him if I could keep the book and he said okay but he doesn't lend me books anymore.
The second and the third time I didn't return a book was to the same person. He gave me a book to read and I just jokingly said that I was not gonna return the book knowing, of course, he will refuse but he said OK. Even he had borrowed the book from someone else and didn't return it, it's just fate. Third time too from this same person. Forever going to be in his debt. But I don't encourage this behavior at all.
HAVE YOU EVER READ A SERIES OUT OF ORDER?
Generally, I don't read much series. I don't know why but I'm just more inclined towards the standalone ones. But if I read a series I make sure that I read the whole series in order. I even stack the books in order on my shelf, even the covers of the books in series should match. A freak, I know.
But I have not read Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot series in order. There are so many that I can't remember the order and end up reading anyone I like moreover, they can be read as individual books too. Apart from this I never read series out of order.
HAVE YOU EVER SPOILED A BOOK FOR SOMEONE ?
Not any I remember of. Whenever someone asks me questions about a book they are reading or planning to read I just say "Read". Pretty cold. I know how much it hurts when someone spoils a book for you. You already know who is gonna die or who is the culprit. Though it doesn't completely ruin the experience of reading the book it's still annoying.
HAVE YOU EVER DOG EARED A BOOK?
I absolutely hate dog-earing books. Though I used to dog year my books when I was at school, actually I used to think that was cool for what reason I don't know. But it's okay if someone does it to their books. Anyone can do whatever they want to do to their books as long as they love their books. ❤
HAVE YOU EVER SKIPPED A CHAPTER OR A SECTION OF A BOOK?
Yes. When I don't like a book I start skipping chapters or portions of the book until something interesting comes up. If nothing interesting comes up eventually the book goes to my DNF section. There are so many great books in the world and so less time to waste after the books I don't like.
HAVE YOU EVER BAD MOUTHED A BOOK YOU ACTUALLY LIKED?
No. Pretending to not like something just because everyone else is saying so and then bad-mouthing it or doing just the opposite is something I highly ridicule. I think people are allowed to read any kind of book they like and share their thoughts about it because everyone connects to different books differently. This is what reading is all about, accepting different opinions without changing yours.
That's all the questions. If you liked it let me know in the comments below and feel free to do it yourself.
